An eighth generation Texas farmer and rancher, Sid Miller is the 12th Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). He has devoted his life to promoting Texas agriculture, rural communities and the great state of Texas.

Born in De Leon, Texas, in September 1955, Sid Miller graduated with honors from Tarleton State University in Stephenville with a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Ag Education.

A recognized community leader, Miller was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2000. He quickly earned a reputation as a staunch defender of Texas agriculture, constitutional freedoms and individual liberties for all Texans.

He and his wife, Debra, have been married for 40 years. They have two sons, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren. They are active members of the Cowboy Church of Erath County, where Commissioner Miller also serves as an elder.

Since taking statewide office, Sid Miller has become a nationally-recognized conservative leader. One of the earliest supporters of candidate Donald Trump, Sid rallied conservative ag leaders across the country to form a Trump advisory team on agriculture. A regular guest on Fox News, Sid predicted Trump’s victory over Hillary when few else were. Mentioned by Rush Limbaugh on his show and praised by Trump on the campaign trail, Sid became the voice of every true conservative who knew the polls were wrong. After the election, Sid was a finalist for Trump’s cabinet as Secretary of Agriculture. He still maintains close contact with the White House team.

As Ag Commissioner, Sid Miller cracked down on companies skirting consumer protection laws meant to ensure Texans get what they pay for. His “Operation Maverick” identified places like pawn shops or BBQ joints that failed to register their scales for accuracy. He increased fuel pump inspections for pump accuracy and fuel quality. And, thanks to Sid Miller, every inspected fuel pump is now checked for those illegal credit card skimmers.

Sid Miller transformed the school nutrition program in Texas by eliminating state mandates, improving local control and encouraging more farm fresh foods in school lunchrooms. He canceled Michelle Obama’s left-wing, feel-good nutrition nonsense that sent more food to the trashcan than to our kids. His Farm Fresh Friday initiative connected Texas farmers with our schools to get more fresh produce to our kids.

Since taking office, Sid Miller and staff have visited every continent on the globe to promote Texas products. His historic visit to China led the way to opening the Chinese market to Texas beef for the first time in decades. During another landmark visit to Israel, Sid Miller reignited the Texas-Israel relationship and was the first Texas Agriculture Commissioner recognized by the Israeli parliament. Sid Miller is putting Texas producers on the world stage.
